The Salton Sea
Authority has endorsed Proposition 50, a measure on the Nov. 5 ballot
that would authorize more than $3.4 billion in state general obligation
bonds to fund a variety of water projects around the state.
“Our board feels
this measure is crucial to Salton Sea because the State Senate has
expressed intent to use up to $50 million from Proposition 50 to help
fund restoration efforts or related activities,” said Authority
Executive Director Tom Kirk.
The Senate also has
passed legislation expressing its intent to use an additional $150
million from the bond revenue to facilitate the water transfer between
the Imperial Irrigation District and the San Diego County Water
Authority pursuant to the Quantification Settlement Agreement, he added.
